About Me

My name is Dillam Diaz. Prior to joining the M.Sc. Computing Science program at the University of Alberta, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rosario and Escuela Colombiana de Ingenieria Julio Garavito. During my undergraduate studies in Colombia, I also worked as an Automation Engineer in the steel industry, developing hardware and applying autoencoder systems.

When I first came to the University of Alberta, I did an internship, during which I performed experiments on emotion recognition and activity recognition. These experiments were performed in the University of Alberta’s Smartcondo™, where biosignals (EMG, EEG, EOG, SKT and EDA) were collected using wearable sensors.
